Petzy Claims Two Honor Roll Honors, Monks Ranked as Top Maine Team

STANDISH, ME - SJC senior guard Chris Petzy (Kensington, N.H.) has been listed on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Weekly Honor Rolls.

Petzy averaged 23.0 points and shot 46.7% (7-15) from three point distance in a 1-1 week for the Monks and became the 35th player in program history to amass 1,000 career points in a 70-58 win over Husson University on Wednesday. The senior guard netted 31 points and made 10 of 14 attempts from the floor in the victory over the Eagles and his 31 points that night is the most scored by an SJC player on the night they reached the 1,000-point plateau in the last 15 years.

Through six games, Petzy leads the Monks in scoring (19.3 PPG), three-pointers made (17) and three-point field goal percentage (38.6%).

For the second consecutive week, Saint Joseph's is ranked first in the MMBCWA Weekly Poll. The Monks garnered 40 points and all eight first-place votes in the poll, which is voted upon by NCAA DIII and NAIA head coaches across the State of Maine. Southern Maine ranks second with 30 points while Bowdoin (25), Bates (16) and Colby (6) round out the top five.

Saint Joseph's (5-1, 1-1 GNAC) will travel to Suffolk University for a 3:00 PM conference contest this Saturday.
