Medeiros Collects MMBCWA Honor Roll Mention

STANDISH, ME – SJC sophomore guard Matthew Medeiros (Westport, Mass.) has been listed on the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this winter.

Medeiros averaged 20.0 PPG and shot 46.2% (12-26) from downtown in a 3-0 week for the Monks. The sophomore guard netted 22 points on the road versus Rivier on Thursday and topped the effort with 24 points in a victory over the Raiders at home two days later. Medeiros shot 57.1% (8-14) from the floor and 62.5% (5-8) from three-point distance in the latter contest.

Included in the MMBCWA weekly report is a poll, voted upon by Maine's 11 NCAA DIII Men's Basketball coaches that ranks the state's top teams. Saint Joseph's received 35 points in the 10th poll of the season and sit in second behind top-ranked Bowdoin College, which received all nine first-place votes and 45 points overall.

Maine-Farmington (26 pts), Bates (12) and Husson (9) round out the top five Maine programs.

Through 24 games for the Monks (17-7, 13-4 GNAC), Medeiros leads the team in free-throw percentage (86.7%, 65-75) and three-point percentage (40.1%, 57-142) and ranks third in scoring 11.8 PPG.

Saint Joseph's closes out the regular season with a conference contest at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at 3:00 PM. The Monks have already secured the #2 seed in the GNAC Tournament and will host an opponent yet to be determined on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.
