Medeiros & Jobin Earn All-GNAC Honors

STANDISH, ME - The 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's basketball postseason honors have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have received accolades.

Junior guard Matthew Medeiros (Westport, Mass.) has claimed First Team All-GNAC honors and junior forward Nicholas Jobin (Westbrook, Maine) is a Third Team honoree.

Medeiros, who receives All-Conference accolades for the first time in his career, led the Monks in scoring (15.3 PPG), three-pointers made (70) and attempted (192) and was second on the squad in field goals made (131), free throws made (81), free-throw percentage (78.6%) and assists (58) this winter. The junior sharpshooter led the GNAC in three-point field goals and ranked sixth in the conference in freebies made and seventh in both free-throw success and total points (413).

Also a first-time All-Conference award recipient, Jobin paced the Royal Blue in rebounding (5.5 RPG), field goal percentage (56.5%), field goals made (144) and free throws made (85) and capped his junior season ranked second on the squad in scoring (13.8 PPG). The 6'6" forward recorded the second-highest field goal percentage in the GNAC this season and netted the fifth-most free throws in the conference as a junior.

Saint Joseph's closed out the 2012-13 campaign with a 17-10 overall record and an 11-7 mark versus conference opponents under the watch of 10th-year Head Coach Rob Sanicola '99. As the fifth seed in the GNAC Tournament, the Monks defeated #4 Emerson College in a quarterfinal matchup but fell short in the semifinal round with a loss to top-seeded Anna Maria College on February 21st.
