Maine Hat Trick for Medeiros

STANDISH, ME – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Matthew Medeiros (Westport, Mass.) has earned Player of the Week honors for the third time this winter.

Medeiros averaged 22.0 points and 4.0 assists in a 2-0 week for Saint Joseph's and netted a career-high 32 points in a victory over Emmanuel College on Tuesday. The senior guard posted tremendous shooting percentages from the field (59.1%), three-point range (61.5%) and the free throw line (90.9%) in the pair of conference victories.

In the midst of his finest season, Medeiros currently leads the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in three-pointers made and ranks fifth in all of NCAA DIII Men's Basketball in three-pointers made and threes made per contest. The senior is also third in the GNAC in three-point field goal percentage (44.0%), fourth in free-throw percentage (82.1%), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.7) and sixth in scoring (17.9 PPG).

The senior sharpshooter also leads all Maine NCAA DIII players scoring average and three-pointers and ranks sixth in the state in 3PFG% and FT%. Medeiros, who also earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll accolades for this reporting period, shares the MMBCWA weekly honor with Colby College sophomore center Chris Hudnut (Chevy Chase, Md.), who averaged 21.0 points and 8.3 rebounds over three games for the Mules last week.

Saint Joseph's (14-8, 13-2 GNAC) hosts conference-rival Anna Maria College tonight at 5:30 PM.
