Medeiros & Jobin Garner All-State Accolades

STANDISH, ME – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) has released the 2013-14 postseason accolades and a pair of Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Senior guard Matthew Medeiros (Westport, Mass.) has earned First Team All-State honors for the second-consecutive season while senior forward Nicholas Jobin (Westbrook, Maine) collected the first MMBCWA All-State award of his career with a Second Team honor.

Also a two-time First Team All-GNAC selection, Medeiros posted career-bests in scoring (18.8 PPG), field goals (169), three pointers (103) and free throws made (84) along with personal-highs in assists (65) and total points (525) as a senior. He became the 36th member of the SJC 1,000-Point Club during the season and broke the Monks' single-season three-point field goal record – a mark formerly held by Stephen Chase '93, who netted 97 treys in 1992-93 – with a total that ranked third in all of NCAA DIII Men's Basketball this winter.

On average, Medeiros made 3.68 three-pointers per game, a mark that ranked fourth in NCAA DIII during the 2013-14 campaign. Only 12 players in all of NCAA Men's Basketball – all three levels – averaged more trifectas per contest, with another DIII player, Jack Taylor of Grinnell College, leading the nation with 5.38 threes per game (129-360 in 24 games).

Jobin collects Second Team honors after averaging 17.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 57.6% (186-323) from the floor. The senior post player posted career-best in the three aforementioned categories as well as field goals made (186) and attempted (323), free throws made (106) and attempted (169), rebounds (224) and points (479) during the 2013-14 season.

Jobin became the 37th member of the 1,000-Point Club during his senior campaign and is the 17th men's player to pull down at least 500 career rebounds. The senior also claimed MMBCWA Player of the Week honors on January 20th.

Both players finished the year ranked highly in several categories among Maine NCAA DIII players. Medeiros led the State in scoring and ranked sixth in three-point percentage (43.3%) and seventh in free throw percentage (80.8%) while Jobin was third in scoring, fourth in rebounding and sixth in field goal percentage.
