Mileikis Tabbed as  MMBCWA Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Ian Mileikis (Auburn, Maine) has been selected as the MMBCWA Rookie of the Week.

Mileikis collects his second MMBCWA top rookie honor after averaging 8.6 points and four rebounds per game in a 1-2 week for the Monks. The freshman point guard helped St. Joe's snap a six-game skid with a buzzer beating three-pointer at Norwich on Thursday and tallied 12 points and four rebounds in the 63-62 win. In a narrow 56-52 loss against defending GNAC champion Albertus Magnus on Saturday, Mileikis netted 14 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Mileikis is currently averaging 7.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest and shooting 50% (29-58) from the floor, 31.3% (5-16) from three-point distance, and 70.7% (29-41) from the free throw line through 13 games and 11 starts.

The first-year starter claimed his first MMBCWA Rookie of the Week honor on December 7th.

Saint Joseph's (4-9, 1-5 GNAC) is set to host conference-rival Rivier University at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
