BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (3-3, 2-0 GNAC) tipped Suffolk University (1-6, 0-1 GNAC), 55-52, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
A close game both early and late, Saint Joseph's held a two-point edge (21-19) with 4:49 remaining in the first half but assumed control with the help of a 16-3 run, which was capped by a Quinn Richardson-Newton (Saco, Maine) layup 12 seconds into the second half. The conference contest proved to be far from over however as Suffolk, trailing 53-41 with 3:57 remaining, scored 11 unanswered points to make it a 53-52 game with 47 seconds on the clock.
Richardson-Newton provided the Monks with much-needed breathing room when he converted a layup 25 seconds later and the Rams, with an opportunity to tie the game, missed a pair of three pointers in the closing 11 seconds, including a buzzer-beater attempt by sophomore Michael Hagopian (Watertown, Mass.) that was partially blocked by Richardson-Newton.

- Senior John Crawley (Fitchburg, Mass.) came off the bench to net nine points
- Sophomore Ian Mileikis (Auburn, Maine) added six points and four rebounds
- Junior Aaron Hall (Haverhill, Mass.) led the Monks with six rebounds, including four on the offensive end
