Casale Tabbed as GNAC Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has been named as the GNAC Corvias Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Casale averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in just 20.5 minutes per game in a 1-1 week. He scored a team-high 20 points with seven rebounds in the Monks' 2017 home opener versus three-time NAC Champion Husson on Saturday. The freshman was 7-of-14 on the week, including 3-of-5 from three.

Casale is the first SJC men's basketball player to earn GNAC Rookie of the Week honors since senior forward Quinn Richardson-Newton (Saco, Maine) claimed the award on February 9th, 2015.

The first-year guard is also the first Saint Joseph's freshman to net 20 or more points in a game since Richardson-Newton dropped 20 versus Albertus Magnus College on January 10th, 2015.

Saint Joseph's (1-1) travels to UMaine-Farmington tomorrow for a non-conference contest starting at 7:30 PM.
