Mileikis Named MMBCWA Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly report has been released and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Ian Mileikis (Auburn, Maine) has been selected as the Player of the Week.

Mileikis averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Monks. The junior guard shot 60.9% (14-23) from the floor and was perfect (16-16) from the free throw line. He netted 23 points while shooting 9-12 from the field in a loss to Lasell on Tuesday and scored 21 with nine boards and three assists while going 11-11 from the free throw line in a 63-57 victory over Regis College on Saturday.

Through 18 games for the 11-7 Monks, Mileikis is averaging 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 53.4% (94-176) from the floor, 40.4% (21-52) from three-point range, and 88.5% (69-78) from the free-throw line. The junior captain currently ranks second in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in FT% and is fourth in free throws made.

Mileikis also garnered his sixth GNAC Weekly Honor Roll award for this play in two contests last week.

In the MMBCWA Weekly Coaches Poll, Saint Joseph's is tied for third with 12 points. Bowdoin College (14-5) received all six first-place votes and is ranked first, Husson University (15-4) is second, and Bates College (10-10) and Colby College (10-9) are tied for third with the Monks.

Saint Joseph's travels to Mount Ida College tonight for a 7:00 PM GNAC contest.
