STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College senior guard Darian Berry (Rochester, N.H.) has claimed Google Cloud Academic All-District® accolades, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) late last week.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence both on the court and in the classroom. The District Team selections are divided into eight geographic districts and further delineated by NCAA Divisions I, II and III.
During his senior season Berry averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 54.0% (204-378) from the floor, 45.1% (69-153) from three-point distance, and 75.3% (64-85) from the free-throw line in 27 starts. He capped his four-year career with 1,275 points, 380 rebounds, 183 assists, and 74 steals in 89 contests and finished his time at Saint Joseph's ranked fifth in three-pointers attempted (485) and made (296), seventh in three-point percentage (40.5%), 14th in scoring average (14.3 PPG), and 20th in points.
A Finance & Accounting major, Berry has twice garnered Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic honors and been listed on the Dean's List in each of the last seven semesters.
He is the only GNAC player and one of two players from a Maine college or university – Colby junior Sam Jefferson being the other - to earn the academic accolade.
First team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
