Casale Third-Fastest to 1,000 Career Points in Program History

STANDISH, Maine – Junior guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) became the 42nd member of the Saint Joseph's College men's basketball 1,000-Point Club early in a non-conference game at UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday, November 26th.

Casale entered the game versus the Beavers with 999 career points and surpassed the four-digit mark when he drained a three-pointer 4:26 into contest. He finished the game with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.

Only two players in the 50-year history of SJC men's basketball reached the 1,000-point plateau in fewer games than Casale, who hit the milestone in his 56th career contest. Only Mike Haran '83 and Paul Searles reached the landmark quicker, as the former did so in 52 contests and the latter hit the mark in his 53rd game.

Casale is the 13th Saint Joseph's player to hit the 1,000-point mark during his junior season and first since Zach O'Brien '12 did so during the 2010-11 campaign.

Through five games this season, Casale is averaging 23.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 52.4% (44-84) from the field, 32.4% (11-34) from three-point distance, and 66.7% (20-30) from the FT line.

In 57 career games, the junior guard has scored 1,049 points with 435 rebounds, 159 assists, 37 steals, and 25 blocked shots while shooting 48.3% (365-756) from the floor, 39.8% (161-405) from downtown, and 73.1% (158-216) from the charity stripe. For his career, he is averaging 18.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per contest.

He is the 14th player to join the SJC 1,000-Point Club during the tenure of Head Coach Rob Sanicola '99, who is currently in his 17th year at the helm for the Monks. Casale joins former teammates Quinn Richardson-Newton '18, Ian Mileikis '19, and Darian Berry '19 in the exclusive club.
