STANDISH, ME - Johnson State (6-2, 6-2 NAC) defeated Saint
Joseph's (3-11, 1-6), 15-6, in North Atlantic men's lacrosse action
at Lakeside Field on Saturday afternoon. Jonathan
Horgan '12 (Hingham, MA) tallied a goal and two
helpers and Elliot LaMarre '11
(Raymond, ME) collected a game-high seven ground balls in the
losing effort.
Billy Noyes '10 (Boston, MA) scored six goals and Matt Riani '09
(Jericho, VT) added four for Johnson State. Badgers goalkeeper
Brendan Sawyer '10 (East Greenwich, RI) made 12 stops in net.
Andrew Moravick '10 (Biddeford,
ME) scored his first collegiate goal with 6:52 to play in the first
quarter, but the junior's tally was the only offense the Monks
would muster in the first half as Johnson State held an 8-1 lead
after two quarters of play.
The Monks went on to win the third quarter by a 3-1 margin and
trailed 9-4 heading into the final stanza. Luke

Tokunbo Amosun '11 (Gardiner, ME)
and Horgan scored the goals for St. Joe's during
the surge.
The Badgers quickly regained momentum by netting three straight
goals to open the fourth quarter. LaMarre and
Kody Peckham '11 (West Gardiner,
ME) both scored for the Monks in the final period, but it wasn't
enough as the visitors went on to collect a 15-6 conference
win.
Johnson State held an advantage in shots (50-37) and clears (17-9),
but St. Joe's won the face off (16-6) and ground ball (38-26)
battles.
SJC keep Don Gearan '12 (Gorham,
ME) made a career-high 22 saves, which also qualifies as a
single-game record for the second-year program.
Benson Pasquarello '12
(Kennebunk, ME) collected five ground balls, and
Paul Dolewa '12 (Saco, ME) and
Ryan Prescott '09 (Pittsfield,
NH) each corralled four in defeat.
St. Joe's will host NAC opponent Mount Ida College on Sunday at
3:30 PM, while Johnson State is set to host Norwich University in a
non-conference game on Monday at 4:00 PM.
