STANDISH, ME - St. Joe's (3-10, 1-5 NAC) fell to
Salem State (5-6), 16-7, in non-conference men's lacrosse action at
Lakeside Field on Thursday afternoon. Paul
Dolewa '12 (Saco, ME) scored twice and
Ryan Prescott '09 (Pittsfield,
NH) collected nine ground balls in the losing effort.
The Vikings scored three times in the opening four minutes and,
after Dolewa notched his first tally of the
contest, went on to outscore the Monks 7-1 in the first quarter.
The visitors recorded three shorthanded goals during the opening
run, with Rob Mulroy '10 (Swampscott, MA) netting two of them.
Kody Peckham '11 (West Gardiner,
ME) and Luke LaFreniere '10
(Alton, NH) scored the game's next two goals to cut the Monks'
deficit to 7-3. But Salem State went on another scoring streak,
with four straight markers to close out the half and another to
start the third quarter, making it a 12-3 game.
Benson Pasquarello '12
(Kennebunk, ME) scored a man-up goal with 11:19 to play in the
third to cut the Vikings' lead to 12-4. The visitors answered by
scoring three goals to close out the quarter with a 15-4
cushion.
Salem State added another goal in the final quarter while St. Joe's
scored three times to make the final score 16-7.

Horgan '12 (Hingham, MA) notched the SJC goals in
the fourth.
Elliot LaMarre '11 (Raymond, ME)
won 11 of 19 face off attempts for Saint Joseph's and
Andrew Moravick '10 (Biddeford,
ME) corralled five ground balls. Prescott's nine
ground balls is a new career high for the senior midi. SJC

For the Vikings, Mulroy and Mark Duran '10 (Lynn, MA) both netted
three goals, while Scott Aronian '09 (Chelmsford, MA) and Padriac
Boscoe '09 (Dartmouth, MA) added two scores apiece. Starting keeper
Brendan Gill '11 (Chelmsford, MA) made nine saves and allowed three
goals and Kyle Tuneburg '12 (Beverly, MA) posted eight stops with
four goals allowed in 27:40 of play.
Saint Joseph's will host NAC opponent Johnson State on Saturday at
1:00 PM. Salem State will host LEC rival Southern Maine on Saturday
at 1:00 PM.
