Mustangs Buck Monks, 14-5

NEWTON, MA – Mount Ida College (5-4, 4-0 NAC) defeated Saint Joseph’s (4-6, 1-3 NAC), 15-4, in a North Atlantic Conference Men’s Lacrosse contest on Saturday afternoon. Monks goalkeeper Christopher Driscoll ’13 (Saco, ME) made 21 saves in the losing effort.

Elliot LaMarre ’11 (Raymond, ME), Paul Dolewa ’12 (Saco, ME), Spencer Hunt ’13 (Jeffersonville, VT), Benson Pasquarello ’12 (Kennebunk, ME) and Luke LaFreniere ’10 (Alton, NH) all scored goals for Saint Joseph’s. Blake Edwards ’11 (Glide, OR) tallied an assist and added six groundballs, while Dylan Chase ’13 (West Newbury, MA) and Albert Comins ’13 (Newburyport, MA), who also caused a team-high four turnovers, both chipped in with six groundballs in the loss.

For the Mustangs, Christopher Prophete ’10 (Waltham, MA) and Paul Battipaglia ’11 (Clinton, MA) both netted three goals and two assists and Matthew Savage ’11 (Peabody, MA) added three goals for the hosts. Brandon Keith ’10 (Barnstable, MA) scored twice and registered three assists and Nick Yacuzzi ’13 (Oakham, MA) found the back of the cage on two occasions. Midfielder Matt Vernik ’10 (Bethany, CT) corralled a game-high 16 groundballs and won 19 of 21 face-off attempts for the Mustangs.

Mount Ida held advantages in shots (55-27), groundballs (63-41), face-offs (19-3) and clears (21-26/17-35) in the triumph.

Saint Joseph’s will play at Rivier College on Tuesday at 6:00 PM, while Mount Ida will return to action on Wednesday when the Mustangs host Babson College at 4:00 PM.
