Monks Blow Past Raiders, 19-0

NASHUA, NH – Saint Joseph's improved to 5-6 overall with a 19-0 victory over Rivier College (0-5) in a non-conference men's lacrosse contest on Tuesday evening. Spencer Hunt '13 (Jeffersonville, VT) tallied three goals and three assists in the triumph.  

Overall, 11 different players found the back of the cage for the Monks, including Paul Dolewa '12 (Saco, ME) and Dylan Chase '13 (West Newbury, MA), who both tallied a hat-trick effort in the win. Kody Peckham '11 (West Gardiner, ME) and Sean Flanagan '13 (Hingham, MA) both scored a pair of tallies, while Benson Pasquarello '12 (Kennebunk, ME), T.J. Garske '12 (Federal Way, WA), Jack LaFreniere '13 (Alton, NH), Marcus Cardona '13 (Portland, ME/Cheverus), Ross Hardaway '11 (East Boston, MA) and Luke LaFreniere '10 (Alton, NH) all scored in the one-sided victory.

For Cardona, Garske and Jack LaFreniere, the scores were the first of their collegiate career.

Pasquarello collected seven groundballs and keeper Christopher Driscoll '13 (Saco, ME) needed to make just one save in the shutout.

The Monks held a commanding advantage in shots (67-2) and groundballs (47-23) and forced 16 Rivier turnovers in the win. The shots total is a new program single-game record, surpassing the 62 shots St. Joe's posted against Green Mountain on April 23rd, 2009.

Raiders keeper Matt Besaw '13 (Glens Falls, NY) made 22 saves for the hosts.

St. Joe's will play at Lyndon State on Saturday in a NAC contest scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM, while Rivier will play at Becker College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
