STANDISH, ME – The North Atlantic Conference has released the 2010 Men's Lacrosse All-Conference honors and two Saint Joseph's College players have received accolades.
Freshman attacker Spencer Hunt (Jeffersonville, VT/Lamoille Union) is the 2010 NAC Co-Rookie of the year after leading the Monks with 42 goals, 34 assists and 76 points as a first-year player. He set new program single-season records for points and assists, as well as shots on goal (81) and game-winning tallies (4) during the 2010 campaign. Hunt, who tied for the NAC-lead in game-winners, ranked third in assists per game (2.0) and fourth in points per game (4.47) this spring, shares the rookie honor with Maine Maritime Academy midfielder Tom Houle.
Defender Albert Comins '13 (Newbury, MA/Triton) earns Second Team All-NAC honors after registering a new SJC single-season record 36 caused turnovers with 77 groundballs, the second-highest total on the squad, in 2010. Comins helped lead a Saint Joseph's defensive effort that allowed 9.12 goals per game, the fourth-best average in the conference. The 2010 opponent's scoring average is roughly half of the mark posted last spring, as the Monks surrendered 17.21 goals per game in 2009.
The 2010 Saint Joseph's College Men's Lacrosse team, 10-8 overall and 5-4 in NAC play, enjoyed a breakout season this spring while earning single-season team records for wins, winning percentage (.556), points (323), goals (207), assists (116), groundballs (841) and face-off percentage (.590). As of May 2nd, the Monks rank fourth in all of NCAA DIII Men's Lacrosse with 46.72 groundballs per game.
NAC RELEASE:
Maine Maritime sophomore attacker Andrew DiSalvo was named North Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year. DiSalvo, who garnered Rookie of the Year honors a season ago led the conference with 25 assists while also heading the Mariners attack scoring 27 goals.
Maine Maritime midfielder Tom Houle and Saint Joseph's College of Maine attacker Spencer Hunt shared the league's Rookie of the Year honors. Hunt was among the league leaders in both goals (27) and assists (20) helping the Monks to a 5-4 conference mark. Houle was force from his midfield position assisting on 23 goals during conference play and helping Maine Maritime to a 6-3 record.
Mount Ida head coach Andrew Fink was honored as NAC Coach of the Year by his peers. Fink guided the Mustangs to a perfect 9-0 conference mark and has his squad in the NAC Championship game for the seventh consecutive season.
Green Mountain was honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award. NAC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches. Additional players honored are due to ties in the voting.
