2012-13 Men's Lacrosse Captains Announced

STANDISH, ME – SJC men's lacrosse Head Coach Mike Edgar has named his captains for the 2012-13 academic year.

Seniors Christopher Driscoll (Saco, Maine) and Joseph Connolly (Portland, Maine) and junior Jake Ricciardi (Sharon, Mass.) have been tabbed as extensions of the coaching staff for the upcoming year.

Driscoll owns essentially every goalkeeping record at Saint Joseph's, including career saves (463), save percentage (.555), goals against average (9.20), and victories (23). He is also the Monks' single-season record holder for saves (162, 2012), save percentage (.571, 2010) and wins (10). As a junior, he posted an 8-8 record with a 9.47 goals against average and a .551 save percentage in 17 starts and 836 minutes between the pipes.

Connolly, one of the Monks' top defenders, has been chosen as a team captain for the second consecutive season. He played and started in all 18 of the team's games last spring and has recorded 72 ground balls and 39 caused turnovers over 54 contests in three collegiate seasons.

Ricciardi, a midfielder, contributed across the board as a sophomore with 18 goals, nine assists, 33 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and 14 faceoff wins in 24 bids in 2012. He has tallied 35 goals, 15 assists, 76 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers in two seasons at Saint Joseph's.

Coach Edgar led the Royal Blue to an 8-10 overall record and a 6-3 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play in his fifth season at the helm. The Monks advanced to the conference tournament for the fourth consecutive season but, as the #5 seed, saw their 2012 campaign come to a close with a 9-4 loss at the hands of fourth-seeded Norwich University in the quarterfinal round.
