STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman attackman Austin Watts (Westbrook, Maine) has garnered GNAC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors.
Watts helped lead Saint Joseph's to a pair of conference wins with five goals, five assists and six ground balls in two games last week. The rookie netted three goals and three assists in a 16-8 win over Becker on Wednesday and tallied a pair of markers with two helpers and five ground balls in a 9-3 victory over Daniel Webster on Saturday.
Watts has played a pivotal role in the Monks' success this spring with 11 goals, 11 assists, 36 ground balls and three caused turnovers while playing in all 14 contests with 12 starts as a freshman. The conference weekly honor is the first of his career.
The Monks (7-7, 6-1 GNAC) host Mount Ida College at Deering Memorial Stadium this afternoon at 4:30 PM.
