Edgar Steps Down as Men's Lacrosse Coach

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College has announced that Mike Edgar has stepped down from his post as the head coach of the Monks' men's lacrosse program.

Coach Edgar, the only skipper the six-year NCAA varsity program has known, leaves the team after notching a 41-58 (.414) overall record with a 23-20 (.535) mark in conference play. His teams participated in conference tournament play in each of the last five seasons and advanced to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament semifinal round in 2011.

During Edgar's tenure, six different players accounted for 10 All-Conference honors, a conference Rookie of the Year accolade and two New England Region awards.

"We have been fortunate to have Coach Edgar as the first coach to lead varsity men's lacrosse at Saint Joseph's College," adds Saint Joseph's Athletics Director Brian Curtin. "Mike is a veteran coach and because of his long history in Maine lacrosse he added immediate credibility to our new program.

"The program is in a very good place now and has taken noticeable strides under Mike's guidance," Curtin continues. "We wish him and his family well."
