Panthers Maul Monks, 16-2

PORTLAND, ME – Plymouth State University (3-1) toppled Saint Joseph's College (3-3), 16-2, in a non-conference men's lacrosse contest at Deering Memorial Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Junior goalie Ethan Rettew (Ephrata, Pa.) made a career-high 17 saves in the losing effort.

The Monks received goals from Dalton Eldridge (South Gardiner, Maine) and Jake O'Brien (Andover, Mass.) in the first quarter but would not find the back of the cage in the final three periods, as the Panthers scored 10 unanswered markers over the final 45 minutes of play to secure the convincing 16-2 victory.

Eleven different players scored for Plymouth State, with senior attack Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.) potting a game-high three goals with four ground balls on the afternoon. Junior Mike Trocchi (Danvers, Mass.) talled two goals, four assists, four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers, Nick Morello (North Billerica, Mass.) added two scores and an assist and Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass.) netted two markers for the visitors. C.J. Frates (Merrimack, N.H.), Aaron Boss (Keene, N.H.) and Nick Pino (North Andover, Mass.) chipped in a goal and an assist apiece while Phil Pichel (Hopkinton, Mass.), Brett Miller (Windham, N.H.), Andy Ripley (South Paris, Maine) and Tyler Cote (San Antonio, Texas) also scored in the 14-goal win.

Plymouth State goalkeepers Jesse Kutz (Hopkinton, Mass.), Christopher St. George (Marblehead, Mass.) and Jayson LaRiviere (Chelmsford, Mass.) shared time in goal and combined to make seven saves on the afternoon.

Saint Joseph's will host conference-rival Daniel Webster College at 1:30 PM on Saturday while Plymouth State opens Little East Conference play with a home contest versus Western Connecticut at 12:00 PM on Sunday.
