Barrett Chosen as ECAC New England Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College freshman attack Brendan Barrett (East Sandwich, Mass.) has been selected as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) NCAA DIII New England Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.

Barrett, who also claimed Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week accolades for his efforts, totaled five goals and 12 assists for 17 total points in three Saint Joseph's victories last week. The freshman attack scored twice with four assists versus Maine-Farmington on Monday and added a goal with five helpers in a win over GNAC-rival Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

Through seven games for the 5-2 Monks, Barrett ranks as the team leader in assists (18), points (26) and ground balls (29). He is the first player in program history to earn an ECAC weekly honor.

Saint Joseph's returns to play this Saturday with a road contest versus GNAC foe Mount Ida College. Opening face-off is slated for 1:00 PM.

 

In the 76 years since its inception, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has emerged as the nation's largest Conference.
