Bison Top Monks in Season Opener, 15-6

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's lacrosse program opened its season with a convincing 15-6 win over Saint Joseph's College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Vendetti Field.

Graduate student Reece O'Connor and senior Jack Zaremski each scored three times for the Bison while senior MacKenzie Martin, along with freshmen Brendan Coates and Jeffrey Wenzel, each found the back of the net twice. Senior Brian McKinley turned aside 10 shots to earn the win – the 300th win in program history.

Juniors Michael Finn and Tyler Retalic both scored twice for the Monks, who were held scoreless for over 20 minutes while the Bison poured in eight-straight goals in the first half. The Monks also committed 24 turnovers and were just 18-of-25 on clears.

Nichols held a 9-3 lead at the half behind two from both Zaremski and O'Connell, then ripped off four-straight goals in the second half to open up a 12-3 lead in the fourth.

All-Time Series

Today's contest marked the inaugural meeting between Nichols College and Saint Joseph's (ME) College. The Bison now lead the series, 1-0.
