Men's Lacrosse Class of 2023 Released

Men's Lacrosse Class of 2023 Released

STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Bill Cosentino has released the men's lacrosse recruiting Class of 2023.

Cosentino, who will be in his fourth year at the helm when the 2020 season begins next spring, is bringing in another bumper crop of athletes into the fold. His third recruiting class - which consists of 17 players from four different states with two attacks, seven defenders, two goalies, and six midfielders – figures to replenish a roster that lost nine players to graduation last May.

Among the 2019 graduates are All-Conference honorees Michael Finn and Raymond Emery, a pair of standouts who led their units on opposite ends of the field during their careers. Finn, a two-time All-GNAC honoree, netted 49 goals with 14 assists for 63 total points last spring and left the program owning the team's career records for points (210), goals (169), shots on goal (324), and man-up goals (37). Emery a two-time Second Team All-Conference selection, picked up 24 ground balls with 14 caused turnovers while starting all 17 games in 2019. The lockdown defender finished his career with a goal and three assists, 117 groundballs, and 65 caused turnovers in 67 games over four seasons.

Last spring the Monks went 12-5 overall with a 6-2 record in conference play en route to earning the #3 seed in the GNAC Tournament. Saint Joseph's hosted sixth-seeded Johnson & Wales University – the reigning conference champions – in the first round and suffered a season-ending 11-8 setback at the hands of the Wildcats on April 27th.

Despite the disappointing ending, the Monks set new team records for victories (12), winning percentage (.706), and longest winning streak (10) as well as goals (210), assists (136) and points (346).

"We are very excited to welcome in our freshmen and transfers," adds Cosentino. "Collectively, this is a talented class that we believe will help elevate our program to the top of the GNAC. From All-State players, to Academic All-Americans, we have a well-rounded group of student-athletes starting at Saint Joseph's this fall!"
