WORCESTER, MA - Saint Joseph's (0-2-1) and Worcester State
College (2-1-2) played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer in a
double-overtime match on Wednesday evening. Junior goalkeeper
Will Pike (Gorham, ME) made six
saves and freshman Derek Osmond
(Rockport, MA) steered four shots on goal in the stalemate
effort.
Worcester State held a 30-13 edge in shots, but both teams were
even with both goalies facing six shots on goal. It was a
frustrating night for both teams since neither could capitalize on
the good field position when they had it.
Worcester State was tabbed as the #10 team in the September 2nd
NSCAA/addidas NCAA Division III New England Region rankings. Saint
Joseph's was unranked in the poll.
Saint Joseph's will entertain GNAC opponent Lasell on Saturday and
non-conference foe Thomas on Sunday. Both games for the Monks will
start at 3:30.
