GNAC Men's Soccer Tournament Seedings Announced

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament schedule has been announced and 2009 GNAC Champion Saint Joseph's (6-10-2, 3-5-1 GNAC) enters the tourney, which begins Saturday, as the #7 seed.

St. Joe's will play at second-seeded Albertus Magnus College (13-4-1, 6-2-1 GNAC) on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Monks just played the Falcons and suffered a 2-1 setback in New Haven on October 23rd.

Saint Joseph's enters the tourney having lost five straight GNAC contests by a total of seven goals. The Monks are led offensively by senior midfielder Paul Robins (Cornwall, England), who has four goals and 13 total points, and sophomore forward Jack LaFreniere (Alton, NH) (3 G, 5 A).

SJC junior netminder Nick Campasano (Goffstown, NH) has four shutouts and a 1.90 goals against average this fall as a first-year starter and made 16 stops in a loss to regionally-ranked Wheaton College on Sunday.

GNAC RELEASE:

Lasell College secured first place with an outstanding undefeated conference record of 7-0-2 and overall record of 8-6-2. The Lasers came from behind in their last regular season game against Emerson to secure a victory and lift them to a 1st place seed.

Albertus Magnus College has earned a second place finish with a conference record of 6-2-1, and an overall record of 13-4-1. The only losses the Falcons had suffered in conference play were to Emmanuel and Emerson but managed to tie #1 seeded Lasell.  

Norwich earned their third place seeding with a conference record of 6-3 and an overall record of 9-6-2. The Cadets had a huge at home victory in their last conference game against #4 Suffolk to earn a third seed spot in the tournament.

Suffolk earned a fourth place finish with a conference record of 5-3-1 and an overall record of 8-7-1. During the regular season, the Rams managed to tie top seeded Lasell in double overtime.

Rounding out the bottom four teams are #5 Emerson (5-3-1, 7-8-1), #6 Emmanuel (3-4-2, 5-9-3), #7 St. Joe's (3-5-1, 6-10-2), and #8 Johnson & Wales (3-5-1, 4-10-2).
