STANDISH, ME – Three members of the Saint Joseph's College Men's Soccer team have garnered 2010 All-Conference honors.
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced today that senior midfielder Paul Robins (Cornwall, England), senior back Joe Happnie (Rockland, MA) and sophomore forward Jack LaFreniere (Alton, NH) have earned All-Conference accolades.
Robins earns First Team All-GNAC honors for the first time after collecting Second Team mention for the past two seasons. The senior tri-captain was one of just five SJC players to start all 19 games and led the Monks with four goals and 13 points in 2010. Robins, the program's all-time leader in assists with 21 in four years, finished the season tied for the team lead with five helpers.
Happnie, a Second Team selection, has earned league honors for the first time in his career. A very athletic and heady player, the senior tri-captain tallied two goals in 19 games, all starts. Happnie, also the Monks' 2010 GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team representative, played in 80 games over four seasons and netted four career markers.
LaFreniere, also a first-time All-GNAC choice, enjoyed a solid sophomore season with three goals, five assists and 11 total points in 19 starts. In two seasons, the fleet of foot forward has accumulated 10 goals and 28 points with five game-clinching tallies in 37 matches.
St. Joe's went 6-11-2 overall and 3-5-1 in GNAC play this fall under second-year Head Coach Steve Babineau. The Monks earned berth into the conference tourney for the fourth time in as many years as a league member and, as the #7 seed, fell to second-seeded Albertus Magnus College in the opening round.
