STANDISH, ME – Senior captain Mike Sanfilippo (Walpole, Mass.) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week.
Sanfilippo, the GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, scored a goal in each of the Monks' three GNAC Tournament victories including the eventual game-winner on a PK attempt in the championship game against Norwich on Saturday. The four-year starter and two-year team captain has played in three GNAC title games in his career and played important roles on two conference championship sides over the last three seasons.
Sanfilippo currently ranks second on the team with career highs in goals (8), assists (4) and points.
Saint Joseph's will face Trinity College in the opening round of the NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Tournament at Babson College –a tourney pod host – on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 PM.
