Sanfilippo to Play in Senior All-Star Game

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College midfielder Mike Sanfilippo (Walpole, Mass.) has been chosen to compete in the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game.

The annual exhibition, which will take place on Sunday, November 27th at 11:00 AM at Harvard's Soldier Field Soccer Stadium, features the top 36 seniors representing 21 New England NCAA DIII institutions.

Sanfilippo, a two-year captain and four-year starter, is one of three players from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to be selected as he joins Albertus Magnus College forward Jamal Howard and Emerson College defender Ken Nivradesh in this year's event.

A two-time All-GNAC selection, Sanfilippo posted career-highs in goals (8), assists (4), points (20) and game-winners (2) and ranked second on the SJC side in all three offensive categories.

Sanfilippo, the first player in team history be selected to play in the NEISL Senior All-Star Game, leaves the men's soccer program as the career-leader in games played (82) and tallied 12 goals, six assists and 30 total points in four seasons. He only missed two contests during his career and started all but three games over the past four years.

His play helped the Monks post the best four-year record (46-32-6, .590), including an outstanding 23-12-2 (.657) in-conference record, in program history. Saint Joseph's advanced to the GNAC Championship three times and won a pair of conference crowns, including the 2011 title, during Sanfilippo's career.
