Goalkeeping Gurus Added to St. Joe’s Soccer Staff

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's alumni Jeff Yaeger '04 and Will Pike '11, two of the best goalkeepers in SJC soccer history, have been hired on as assistant coaches.

Yaeger, who previously served as a men's team assistant for four seasons and worked with the women's side for one year, returns and will fill the role of goalkeeper coach for both programs this fall. A four-year starter for the Monks, Yaeger currently owns the program record for goalkeeper games (70) and ranks second in team history in minutes (5562) and wins (22). He also ranks third all-time in saves (387) and shutouts (10.5) and fourth in goals against average (1.86).

Pike, a first-year college coach for the men's side, brings plenty of gravitas to the SJC staff after leading the Monks to the program's first GNAC Championship in 2009 and as the owner of the lion's share of SJC goalkeeping records in just two seasons at St. Joe's. A two-time First Team All-GNAC selection and 2009 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year honoree, Pike shattered the Monks' all-time goals against average (0.88), save percentage (.861), victories (26) and shutouts record (19) in two years after transferring in from Mount St. Mary's University, an NCAA DI program in Maryland.
