GORHAM, ME – UMass.-Dartmouth (2-0) defeated Saint Joseph's (1-1), 1-0, in overtime in a USM Men's Soccer Classic contest at Hannaford Field on Saturday. SJC freshman goalkeeper Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho) recorded seven saves in the loss.

UMD sophomore Jordan Sindo (New Bedford, Mass.) netted the only goal in the tightly contested match in the first sudden-victory overtime period, as his shot from the top of the 18-yard box deflected off a Saint Joseph's defender, wrong-footing Benner and effectively handing the Monks their first loss of the young season.

UMD outshot St. Joe's 22-10 and had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.  Corsairs' senior goalie Mike Phelan (Carver, Mass.) made five saves to collect the shutout.

For St. Joe's, junior Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass./St. Thomas Aquinas), sophomore Jason Wade (South Hampton, N.H.) and freshman Cody Snyder (Bath, Maine) all claimed All-Tournament mention.

The Monks return to the pitch on Thursday when the SJC side travels to Thomas College for a 7:00 PM kick-off. The Corsairs will host Daniel Webster College next Saturday at 7:00 PM.
