BRUNSWICK, ME – Saint Joseph's (4-6-2, 2-3-1 GNAC) lost to Bowdoin College (6-1-1, 2-1-1 NESCAC), 4-0, in a non-conference men's soccer match on Tuesday afternoon. SJC freshman keeper Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho) posted seven stops in the losing effort.

Bowdoin, ranked seventh in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III New England Poll, wasted little time getting on the board as Zach Danssaert notched the game's first goal just 2:20 into the contest. Eddie Jones played a sideline throw to the head of Ben Brewster, who flicked it to Danssaert, who headed it into the lower left corner for a 1-0 lead.

Danssaert doubled Bowdoin's lead in the 18th minute when he pounced on a rebound off a crossbar shot from Keifer Solarte to give the hosts a two-goal advantage. The Polar Bears made it a three-goal lead when Sam White accepted a low cross from Eddie Jones and deposited a blast into the lower left corner just three minutes later.

White capped the scoring in the second half as a Connor Keefe drive was deflected in the box. The ball came directly to White on the back post, who rapped home a shot inside the right post at 51:43.

Polar Bears starting keeper Will Wise was not forced to make a save in 58:18 before giving way to Ian McNamara, who stopped three shots over the final 31:42. Bowdoin, which has recorded six shutouts in eight games and has allowed only three goals so far this year, held a 21-4 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

With the result, Saint Joseph's falls to 0-4 in the history of the series with Bowdoin College.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they travel to play at Colby at 1:30 p.m. The Monks will also see action on Saturday afternoon at Norwich with a 3:00 p.m. kick-off.
