Men's Soccer to Host Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Event

STANDISH, ME – The Saint Joseph's College men's soccer team will host a Pancreatic Cancer Awareness event when the Monks face Anna Maria College on Saturday, October 5th at 1:00 PM.

The players and coaching staff sold t-shirts as a fundraiser for Sheila White, a friend of the SJC soccer family who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Donations will also be collected prior to the start of the contest.

The total tally raised will be presented to the White family by men's soccer Head Coach Steve Babineau and the 2013 team captains at midfield prior to kick-off on Saturday.

Saint Joseph's players and coaches will be sporting purple socks during the game in support of the worthy cause.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States and the eighth worldwide. Approximately one in every 76 people will develop pancreatic cancer at some point in their lifetime.
