PRESQUE ISLE, ME – Saint Joseph's College (1-2-1) bested University of Maine-Presque Isle (1-2-0), 4-0, in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. Senior Zach Johnson (Westbrook, Maine) recorded a pair of assists in the one-sided victory.

The Monks outshot the Owls by a 42-5 margin but would not find the back of the net until senior Kyle Shangraw (Westbrook, Maine) scored in the 58th minute off a Victor Santos (Framingham, Mass.) pass.

Saint Joseph's proceeded to net a pair of goals in a matter of six minutes to claim a 3-0 advantage. Senior Fabrice Iraduha (Portland, Maine) netted his first marker of the year at the 72:47 mark and junior Jason Wade (South Hampton, N.H.) added his first score of the young season 5:41 later. Johnson was credited with an assist on both of the aforementioned tallies.

The 3-0 score was nearly the final, as the Monks' fourth goal – scored by senior Calvin Servaes (Hull, Mass.) off a Peter Hughes (Waterville, Vt.) feed – was scored as time expired.

Junior netminder Robert Petrosillo (Methuen, Mass.) faced five shots but none on target in the victory. His counterpart, Caleb Bragg-Grady (Whitefield, Maine), was extremely busy in goal for the Owls and registered 19 saves, including 15 in a scoreless first half, in a losing bid.

The Monks came close to breaking the team-game records for shots and shots on goal in the side's first victory of the 2013 campaign. The shots record, 43, occurred versus Rivier University in 2011 and the shots on goal mark, 27, took place against the Raiders in 2008.

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 12-10-1 in the history of the series with Maine-Presque Isle, the alma mater of SJC Head Coach Steve Babineau. The Monks have topped the Owls in three-consecutive meetings, all by way of the shutout.

Saint Josephs' returns to action on Wednesday when the Monks play host to the Huskies of University of Southern Maine in a 4:00 PM kick-off.
