2013 Men's Soccer All-GNAC Teams Announced

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) 2013 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams have been released and four Saint Joseph's College have earned honors.

Senior midfielder Kyle Shangraw (Westbrook, Maine) and senior back Dan McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) have claimed First Team All-GNAC accolades while senior forwards Zach Johnson (Westbrook, Maine) and Fabrice Iraduha (Portland, Maine) have been listed on the Second Team.

An elite talent seldom seen at the NCAA DIII level, Shangraw was selected as the ECAC DIII New England Offensive Player of the Week twice and earned GNAC Player of the Week honors on three occasions this fall. He led the Monks in goals (13), points (32), shots (85), shots on goal (40) and game-winners (6) and was tied for the team-lead with six assists while starting all 19 matches this season. He ranked second in the GNAC in goals, points, shots and game-clinchers as a senior.

McIntyre, a Third Team All-GNAC honoree as a sophomore, collects First Team acclaim this fall as one of the very best defensive players in the conference. One of two SJC players to start all 19 games, the Monks' tri-captain essentially never left the field this fall. Athletic and physical with a high soccer IQ, McIntyre was a key player for the Royal Blue in various sectors of the pitch who took many of the side's set-piece kicks and rarely lost a jump ball situation.

Johnson, a 2011 First Team All-GNAC choice, claims Second Team honors for the second-consecutive season after tallying two goals with six assists for 13 total points during his senior campaign. A dangerous offensive player, opposing defenders were forced to constantly be aware of Johnson's whereabouts, a situation that often created scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Iraduha earns All-Conference accolades for the first time after posting a breakout season with six goals and 13 total points in 18 contests. Highly skilled with the ball, Iraduha recorded many highlight-reel quality plays as a senior and ranked second on the team in goals and points.

Senior midfielder Peter Hughes (Waterville, Vt.) was also selected to represent the Saint Joseph's men's soccer side on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The honor is presented annually to a player, from each team in all sports, who best represents the tenets of sportsmanship. Honorees are selected by a vote of team and coaching staff members.

Saint Joseph's College, 10-8-1 overall and 6-3 in conference play under the watch of fifth-year Head Coach Steve Babineau this fall, earned the #2 seed in the 2013 GNAC Tournament but fell to #7 Albertus Magnus College – the reigning conference champs, 1-0, in a GNAC quarterfinal at Westerlea Way Field on Sunday, November 3rd.
