Benner Tabbed as GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho) has been named as the GNAC Corvias Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week.

Benner, the Monks' vocal leader, made four saves and several key plays in the Monks' 3-0 victory over conference-rival Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

In seven starts this fall, Benner owns a 3-2-1 record with a pair of shutouts along with a 1.34 goals against average. He sports a .786 save percentage with nine goals allowed and 33 stops in 605 minutes in net.

The senior captain ranks among the Monks' career leaders in victories (24), shutouts (12), games (59), minutes (4874), goals against average (1.55), saves (243) and save percentage (.743). For Benner, the weekly conference accolade is the first of his NCAA career. He has been listed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on five occasions during his four collegiate seasons.

Saint Joseph's (6-3-1, 2-1-0 GNAC) will play at Suffolk University at 4:00 PM on Saturday.
