Monks Earn Third Seed in GNAC Men's Soccer Tourney

WINTHROP, Mass. – Johnson & Wales University has finished 8-1 in the regular season to claim the top seed in the 2015 GNAC Men's Soccer Tournament, which gets underway next Sunday, November 1 with quarterfinal contests.

The top-seeded Wildcats, which downed Norwich University last year in the GNAC title game, will host eighth-seeded Suffolk University next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

After going .500 a year ago, Mount Ida College earned the No. 2 seed and was in position to grab the top seed if JWU had not won its regular-season finale on the road at Albertus Magnus College on Sunday night. The Mustangs will take on seventh-seeded Lasell College next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Also next Sunday, fourth-seeded Norwich University will host fifth-seeded Emmanuel College, while sixth-seeded Albertus Magnus college will travel to third-seeded Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

The GNAC Men's Soccer semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, and the highest remaining seed will host the championship match on Saturday, November 7.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions, 12 associate member institutions, and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.

Game 2: #5 Emmanuel at #4 Norwich - TBD
Game 3: #6 Albertus Magnus at #3 Saint Joseph's (Maine) – TBD
Game 4: #7 Lasell at #2 Mount Ida - 1:00 p.m.

Semifinals - Wednesday, November 4
Game 5: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner
Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner

Championship - Saturday, November 7
