STANDISH, Maine – University of New England (1-0-1) broke a scoreless stalemate with a pair of goals during a seven-minute span midway through the second half to defeat Saint Joseph's College (0-1-1), 2-0, in a non-conference men's soccer match at Westerlea Way Field on Sunday afternoon.
THE LEAD
Despite owning an 18-5 shots advantage – including a 9-1 margin in the first half – the Monks could not find the back of the net and failed to register a prime scoring opportunity in the losing effort. Nor'easters junior midfielder Nick Paine (Dartmouth, Mass.) broke the deadlock off a Sam Farr (Portland, Maine) pass in the 62nd minute and junior midfielder Dexter Doucet (Newmarket, N.H.) capped the game scoring with an unassisted tally at the 68:14 mark.
THE KEEPERS
Saint Joseph's sophomore goalie Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) was rarely tested and made one save in the setback while his counterpart, UNE senior Elijah Leverett (North Yarmouth, Maine), recorded five stops on the afternoon.

1. 61:46 UNE Nick Paine Sam Farr
A foul on the left side of the box resulted in a free kick rewarded to Farr, who threaded a pass through traffic to Paine, who finished by one-timing a shot into the bottom right corner
2. 68:14 UNE Dexter Doucet (unassisted)
Doucet found space in the top right corner of the box and unleashed a laser into the top left corner, just beyond Mullen's reach
TEAM STATS

NOTEWORTHY
