Strobino Scores Late, Lifts Monks to 1-0 Victory

NASHUA, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College (4-1-2, 1-0-0 GNAC) kicked off Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Rivier University (2-3-0, 0-2-0 GNAC) in men's soccer action on Saturday evening.

With no score heading into the twilight of the contest, freshman JoJo Strobino (Clifton, N.J.) spoiled the stalemate in the 81st minute with what proved to be the game-winner. The first-year midfielder was sprung free on a great through-ball feed from sophomore Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) and finished the play with a strike past Rivier netminder Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) at the 81:48 mark.

Saint Joseph's sophomore keeper Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) stopped the only shot he faced to clinch the shutout victory while Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) played well with eight saves in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's returns to the pitch Wednesday with a 4:00 PM contest at University of Maine-Farmington.
