STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College 6-1-2 (3-0-0 GNAC) shot past Emmanuel College (3-5-1, 0-1-1 GNAC), 2-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer contest at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday afternoon.
SUM IT UP
Both goals were scored in the first 27 minutes, as freshman midfielder Cody Elliott (Gorham, Maine) drilled what proved to be the game-winner off a corner kick, sent in by first-year JoJo Strobino (Clifton, N.J.), just 1:48 into the contest and junior Trevor Lopes (Cumberland, R.I.) netted his first goal as a Monk off a perfect crossing pass, through the goal mouth, from first-year Mitchell Duncan (Sanford, Maine) in the 27th minute.
THE KEEPERS
St. Joe's sophomore Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) made one save to pick up his fourth shutout of the season while his counterpart, Saints freshman Jonathan Ferrarini (Hanover, Mass.), registered 10 stops in a losing effort.
NOTEWORTHY
- Elliott led all players with five shots – including three on goal – on the afternoon
- The Monks have now posted three-consecutive shutouts and allowed just one goal over the last 450 minutes of play
- Today's victory extends the Monks' undefeated streak to seven games – the team's longest since 2008 when the Royal Blue posted an eight game string without a loss

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 7-3-1 all-time versus Emmanuel College, a team that defeated the Monks by a 3-2 margin in Boston last fall.
