Bell & Mullen Garner GNAC Weekly Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvais weekly honors have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College men's soccer players have earned accolades.

Junior forward Austin Bell (Gorham, Maine) is the GNAC Corvais Men's Soccer Player of the Week and sophomore Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) has earned GNAC Corvais Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week honors.

Bell scored a pair of game-winning goals last week as the junior forward netted winning markers in 1-0 victories over Mount Ida and Southern Maine on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.

Mullen posted a 0.33 goals against average with a .917 save percentage and two shutouts in a 3-0 week. The sophomore net minder allowed just one goal - an own goal against JWU on Saturday - over 270 minutes with 11 saves to help Saint Joseph's extend the team's win streak to eight games and undefeated streak to 10 contests. Mullen, who delivered a free kick from 55 yards out, was also credited with an assist on the Monks' game-winning goal versus JWU - a bicycle-kick shot from Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) as time expired.

Through 12 contests so far this fall, Bell has tallied two goals with four total points. For the two-time All-Conference honoree, the Player of the Week nod is a career-first. Bell earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors once (9/8/14) as a freshman.

In 11 starts this season, Mullen sports a 0.45 goals against average with an .839 save percentage and six shutouts over 992 minutes between the pipes. The second-year keeper currently leads the conference in goals against average, minutes, victories (9), and shutouts and ranks second in the GNAC in save percentage. For Mullen, the weekly conference honor is a career-first.

Saint Joseph's (9-1-2, 4-0-0 GNAC) is back in action this afternoon with a 3:30 PM home game versus Keene State College.
