Mattos Claims Fourth GNAC Weekly Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior forward Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been named as the GNAC Corvias Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the fourth time this fall.

Mattos earns the accolade after playing a hand in four of the Monks' five goals last week, scoring two and assisting on two others in a pair of wins. The junior tallied two goals and an assist and broke the SJC single-season goals record with his 18th of the year versus Mount Ida on Saturday.

Through 16 games, Mattos has scored 18 goals with nine assists for 45 total points and has netted six game-winning tallies. He currently leads the conference in goals, points, game-winners, and PK markers (3) and ranks fourth in the GNAC in assists.

The junior captain previously claimed the weekly award on September 6th, October 3rd, and October 10th. Mattos currently ranks as the Monks' career points leader with 91 over 58 games and is second in team history in goals (37). He is also tied atop the SJC game-winning goals list with 14 clinchers.

#23 Saint Joseph's (15-0-1, 9-0-1 GNAC) has earned the top seed in the GNAC Tournament and will host #8 Suffolk University Sunday in a quarterfinal matchup slated to start at 1:00 PM.
