2022 Men's Soccer Recruiting Class Announced

2022 Men's Soccer Recruiting Class Announced

STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Adrian Dubois is pleased to announce the men's soccer Class of 2022.

Coach Dubois, who is about to begin his fifth year as the Monks' sideline general, has brought in another impressive class as the incoming group – which features 11 players from five different states – looks to be talented and ready to contribute immediately.

Under the watch of Dubois last fall, Saint Joseph's posted the finest season in the 29-year history of the SJC men's soccer program. The Monks went 19-0-2 with a 9-0-1 record in GNAC play and, for the second-consecutive year, captured the conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. In the first round, St. Joe's clinched the first national tourney win in team history with a 2-1 triumph over Mitchell College and held defending national champion Tufts University scoreless before falling to the Jumbos – on their home field - in penalty kicks in the second round.

The 2017 men's soccer team established new NCAA Men's Soccer records – for all three levels – in goals against average and save percentage. Saint Joseph's allowed just one goal in 1,930 minutes and broke the NCAA Men's Soccer record – again, all three levels – for consecutive shutout minutes (1,802:54). Mullen also set an individual NCAA Men's Soccer record (all levels) for consecutive shutout minutes (1,706:09) last season.

The Monks capped the regular season ranked 17th and 25th in the D3Soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches national polls, respectively, and sixth in the United Soccer Coaches regional poll.

Now among the top programs in New England, Saint Joseph's looks to the 2022 class to help solidify the Monks' position among the elite, both regionally and nationally, this fall.

"This recruiting class will likely compete with returners for starting roles immediately," says Coach Dubois. "These new players possess a strong soccer acumen with impressive high school and club soccer backgrounds. If they put in the work this summer and learn the system quickly, we expect that many of them could log valuable playing time right away."

"Also, it's important to note that this class is comprised of young men of strong character who will bring a great deal to our positive team culture and excel in the classroom."
