STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College is ranked sixth and 10th nationally in the D3soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches polls and third in the United Soccer Coaches New England Region poll.
Saint Joseph's, 12-0-0 overall and 8-0-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play through October 9th, remains sixth in the D3soccer.com poll for the second consecutive week and moves up five spots in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings after blanking Emmanuel College (1-0) and Anna Maria College (4-0) in conference play last week.
A shakeup has occurred at the top of the United Soccer Coaches national rankings, as University of Chicago assumes the #1 spot after swapping with Messiah College, which sat atop the national poll for the last two weeks. Three teams (University of Rochester, Carnegie Mellon University, and Franklin & Marshall College) tumbled out of the top 10 after suffering a loss last week.
The Monks is one of two teams to receive a first-place vote and racked up 785 points in the sixth D3soccer.com weekly poll and sits behind Chicago, which received 18 first-place nods and 996 points, Calvin (941), Messiah (922), Tufts (848), and Lynchburg (789) in the national ranking.
St. Joe's, led by fifth-year Head Coach Adrian Dubois, remains in third in the regional rankings behind Connecticut College (10-0-0) and Tufts University (9-0-1). Roger Williams University (12-1-0), Middlebury College (4-2-3), WPI (8-2-2), Amherst College (6-3-0), Bates College (7-4-0), Babson College (6-1-4), and Brandeis University (6-4-1) round out the fifth United Soccer Coaches regional poll.
Through 12 games, Saint Joseph's has outscored opponents by a collective 42-1 score with a 289-46 shots advantage. After posting a 19-0-2 record in 2017, the Monks have extended their undefeated streak to 33 games, the longest active streak in NCAA DIII Men's Soccer and the 14th streak of 30 or more all-time. The last time a team posted an undefeated streak of 30 or more games was Rutgers-Camden, which went 37 matches without a setback during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
The NCAA DIII Men's Soccer record for longest undefeated streak is held by Wheaton (IL), which went 66 games without a loss from September of 1996 to November of 1998.
One of just two teams across the country without a loss, Saint Joseph's currently leads NCAA DIII Men's Soccer in shutout percentage (.917), goals against average (0.083), and won-lost-tied percentage (1.000), second in save percentage (.944), third in shots per game (24.08), fifth in shots on goal per game (11.25), eighth in scoring offense (3.50), and 10th in points per game (9.58).
