HOW IT HAPPENED 

Sophomore Kuma Onyejose (East Greenwich, R.I.) put St. Joe's on the scoreboard seven minutes into the action as the sophomore snuck a chipped ball past Suffolk keeper Steven Lopez off a through ball assist from senior Jackson Taylor (Gorham, Maine). 

The Monks added onto their lead eight minutes later with an unassisted strike from Cody Elliot. 

In the 27th minute Suffolk had a chance to get on the board when Sunjoon Tenorio put a header on net in the box. Monks freshman keeper Tomas Griffin (Belmont, Mass.) - who made his first collegiate start today - thwarted Tenorio's attempted to keep the hosts off the board. 

The Monks went on the attack early in the second half, converting another breakaway opportunity in the 46th minute. Taylor found Onyejose for the second time as he struck a ball into the lower right corner of the net. 

Senior Noah Robinson (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) extended the Monks' lead to 5-0 off a free kick opportunity from just outside of the box several minutes later. Taylor tallied his third assist of the day on the play. 

Freshman Nico DeCola (Mahopac, N.Y.) capped off St. Joe's scoring with the first two strikes of his collegiate career, netted in the 66th and 73rd minutes, respectively. 

THE KEEPERS: 

Griffin made four stops in the shutout effort while Lopez posted three saves in the first half and Tom Bennett turned away three shots in the second stanza. 

TEAM STATS:

Shots were lopsided in the Monk's favor, 23-12, with SJC putting 12 attempts on net. St. Joe's had all five corner chances on the afternoon. 

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING: 

Saint Joseph's is 11-4-1 all-time versus Suffolk University and has now defeated the Rams in seven-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2014-15 season. The Monks' six-goal margin of victory is the most in the history of the series.
