NEW LONDON, N.H. – Saint Joseph's College (13-1-2, 8-0-1 GNAC) blanked Colby-Sawyer College (4-9-3, 4-5-0 GNAC), 2-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer contest on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks received a goal in each half from senior Mitchell Duncan (Sanford, Maine) to tie him for the team lead with seven on the season.

Duncan's first goal came in the 29th minute when he received a pass from senior Cody Elliott (Gorham, Maine) and rocketed a shot from 20 yards out into the upper left corner of the net. The Colby-Sawyer keeper got a hand on it, but the ball was well placed.

In the 60th minute, senior Keenan Welzel (Brunswick, Maine) sent a corner kick into the box where Duncan used his head to beat the keeper to right.

Colby-Sawyer's best scoring chance came from first-year Nico Adornetto (Sanford, Maine), in the 56th minute, but Monks junior goalie David Walbridge (Hampden, Mass.) made the save to preserve the shutout.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held considerable leads in shots (25-2), shots on goal (9-1), and corner kicks (10-1) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

Walbridge posted just one save to notch his seventh shutout of the season while senior Jarod Parkins (North Kingstown, R.I.) made seven saves for the Chargers.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 4-0-1 all-time versus Colby-Sawyer College and, including a pair of clean sheets last fall, the Monks have recorded three-consecutive shutouts versus the Chargers.

Saint Joseph's will play at Johnson & Wales University on Saturday in an important conference matchup slated to start at 1:00 PM.
