Swimmers Swept at Elms College

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swim teams were swept at Elms College on Saturday afternoon. The women fell 132-116 and the men suffered a 116-63 defeat at the hands of the Blazers. 

THE RUNDOWN - MEN:

  • Senior Alexander Gilvey (Windham, Maine) won the 50-meter back (31.42), 100-meter fly (1:08.19) and 100-meter back (1:06.09)
  • Junior Ben Johnson (Belmont, Mass.) raced to first-place finishes in the 50-meter free (26.44) and 100-meter IM (1:07.03) and placed third in the 100-meter breast (1:18.38)
  • Senior Andrew Merlino (Natick, Mass.) won the 50-meter fly (29.73) and placed third in the 200-meter free (2:22.33) and 100-meter free (1:02.20)

THE RUNDOWN - WOMEN:

  • Senior Allie Krasco (Melrose, Mass.), junior Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine), sophomore Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine) and junior Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) formed the Monks' 200-meter relay and placed second in the event with a 2:35.27 time
  • Halvorsen won the 800-meter free by a over a minute with an 11:08.72 effort and captured the 400-meter free race with a 5:32.16 time, over 25 seconds faster than the runner-up
  • Senior Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.) was the top finisher in the 200-meter free (2:27.59), 50-meter free (31.97) and 100-meter free (1:09.90) events
  • Freshman Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) finished as the runner-up in the 200-meter free (2:37.67), 100-meter fly (1:23.14) and 100-meter back (1:23.05)
  • Krasco won the 100-meter IM (1:24.91) and finished second in the 50-meter back (40.68), 
  • Berube posted third-place finishes in the 50-meter back (41.57), 100-meter back (1:27.88) and 100-meter IM (1:28.98)
  • Prue won the 50-meter breast (41.41) and 50-meter fly (36.74) events and placed second in the 100-meter breast (1:30.65)
  • Junior Brittany Dalphonse (Coventry, R.I.) finished fourth in the 100-meter free (1:25.61) and 100-meter breast (1:53.67) and was fifth in the 50-meter free (38.83)
  • Rowlett, Krasco, Halvorsen and Huberdeau raced to a first-place finish in the 200-meter free relay (2:14.74)
