Swimming Opens Season at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Saint Joseph's College swim team opened up the 2017-18 season with a double-dual meet versus Colby-Sawyer and Franklin Pierce on Saturday. The women suffered a 145-106 loss to Colby-Sawyer and a 129-115 setback at the hands of Franklin Pierce. The Men opened with a convincing 138-62 victory over Franklin Pierce.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN: 

  • Freshman Caleb Levine (Portland, Maine) finished first in the 200-Free (2:06.84), 100-Fly (1:00.38), and 200-IM (2:20.60) events
  • Freshman Joey Christian (Scarborough, Maine) won the 1000-Free (11:37.78) and 100-Free (54.32)
  • Junior Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) won the 100-Breast (1:15.82) and placed second in the 50-Breast (34.33) and 200-IM (2:21.71)
  • Junior Zack Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine) placed first in the 50-Back (30.02) and 500-Free (5:43.15) and third in the 100-Back (1:06.17)
  • Freshman Mason Scully (Sanford, Maine) won the 50-Free (24.77) and 50-Fly (27.25) events and was second in the 200-Free (2:09.50)
  • Junior Madison Bodine (South China, Maine) finished second in the 50-Free (24.96) and 100-Free (57.64)
  • Sophomore Austin Bear (Hanover, Maine) placed second in the 100-Breast (1:26.04) and third in the 200-Free (2:47.90) and 50-Breast (39.12)
  • Scully, Bodine, Christian, and Gryskwicz won the 200-Free Relay (1:38.37)
  • Christian, Quinlan, Levine, and Bodine finished second in the 200-Medley Relay (1:52.23)

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine) won the 200-Free (2:13.86), placed second in the 200-Free (1:02.28), and was third in the 500-Free (6:12.88)
  • Freshman Rose Baillie (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) topped the field in the 50-Breast (34.23) and 100-Breast (1:14.60) and was fourth in the 200-IM (2:34.93)
  • Junior Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) placed second in the 100-Fly (1:18.66), third in the 50-Fly (33.28), and sixth in the 100-Back (1:13.96)
  • Sophomore Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) was third in the 50-Back (33.18) and fifth in the 100-Back (1:10.35) and 200-IM (2:41.34) events
  • Senior Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine) finished third in the 100-Fly (1:29.35), fourth in the 50-Back (38.51), and fifth in the 50-Fly (38.70)
  • Freshman Madison Lapierre (Dover, N.H.) was fourth in the 50-Free (29.04) and sixth in the 100-Breast (1:25.94)
  • Freshman Allison LaFerriere (Gorham, Maine) placed fourth in the 1000-Free (13:45.29) and 100-Free (1:06.46) and fifth in the 500-Free (6:44.27)
  • Sophomore Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine) finished fifth in the 50-Breast (38.08) and sixth in the 50-Free (29.58)
  • Freshman Jasmine Dort (Essex, Mass.) was fifth in the 1000-Free (14:25.61) and the 200-Free (2:39.45) and eighth in the 50-Free (30.54)
  • Junior Emily Tourangeau (Scarborough, Maine) placed sixth in the 200-Free (3:35.56), seventh in the 50-Breast (46.33), and eighth in the 100-Free (1:32.66)
  • Sophomore Hailey Bouyea (Lewiston, Maine) finished seventh in the 1000-Free (15:21.17) and 500-Free (7:39.18) and eighth in the 100-Breast (1:30.88)
  • Roy, Nostrom, Rowlett, and LaPierre raced to a fourth-place finish in the 200-Medley Relay (2:11.28)
  • Berube, Bouyea, Dort, and Tourangeau placed fifth in the 200-Medley Relay (2:34.43)
  • Nostrom, Lapierre, Coiley, and Baillie finished third in the 200-Free Relay (1:55.07)
