Christian Named GNAC Athlete and Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Joey Christian (Scarborough, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Corvias Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Christian led the Monks to victories over University of New England and Husson University on Saturday with top finishes in the 200-Free (1:58.44) and 400-IM (5:10.47) races, while also swimming a leg for the team's winning 200-Medley Relay (1:53.53).

In four events so far this season, Christian has already won nine individual events. The Athlete of the Week honor is the first of his career while the top rookie award is his second - Christian also earned the top newcomer accolade on October 23rd.

Saint Joseph's will swim at Regis (Mass.) this Friday and Saturday.
