STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Jared Felker is pleased to announce the men's swimming Class of 2022.
Coach Felker's second recruiting class features 10 swimmers – four men and six women – and brings additional talent and depth to a program that lost just one senior – Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine) – to graduation this spring.
Berube, a team captain during her senior season, was a four-year member of the SJC swim team and competed in 106 events – the sixth-highest total in program history – during her collegiate career.
The SJC men return all six swimmers this year after posting a 7-2 record and posting fourth and eighth place finishes in the GNAC Championship and NEISDA Championship, respectively, last winter. The NEISDA finish was the best in team history and the 2017-18 campaign was the program's first winning season in 11 years as a varsity sport.
"We are very excited to welcome the Class of 2022 to Saint Joseph's College," adds Felker. "After graduating just one senior last year, the addition of these 10 freshmen will be instrumental in the success of our program. They will not only raise the level of competition in the pool, but in the classroom as well. I am really looking forward to getting them in the water!"
"The 2017-18 season was the first winning season in (men's) program history," Felker continues. "We didn't graduate a single member of that squad. With the addition of these young men we are looking to not only improve our dual meet win total, but we are expecting to be a player at the GNAC Championships."
