Monks Sweep Season Opener

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College swim teams kicked off the 2018-19 season with a sweep over Colby-Sawyer College at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Saturday. The SJC women posted a 132-112 victory while the Monks men won by a 79-28 margin.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) won the 50-Breast (31.39)
  • Freshman Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) won the 1000-Free (12:00.71) and placed second in the 200-Free (2:15.02)
  • Senior Zack Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine) was the top finisher in the 200-Free (2:08.05) and finished second in the 50-Free (25.48)
  • Freshman Nathan Landry (Derry, N.H.) placed first in the 50-Free (24.91)
  • Freshman Joe McPherson (Eliot, Maine) won the 100-Fly (1:00.37)
  • Freshman Joseph Nichols (Tyngsborough, Mass.) placed second in the 50-Back (33.26)
  • Gryskwicz, Quinlan, McPherson, and Landry won the 200-Medley Relay (1:52.33)
  • Landry, Quinlan, McPherson, and Watson placed first in the 200-Free Relay (1:43.27)

 THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Junior Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine) won the 1000-Free (13:05.19) and 500-Free (6:19.40) events and finished second in the 100-Free (1:02.63)
  • Freshman Sierra Lumbert (Gorham, Maine) was second in the 1000-Free (14:04.50) and third in the 100-Breast (1:30.12) and 50-Fly (33.53) events
  • Freshman Emilienne English (Cranston, R.I.) placed second in the 200-Free (2:19.60), 100-Fly (1:12.66), and 100-Back (1:07.07) events
  • Freshman Samantha Knight (Derry, N.H.) was third in the 200-Free (2:34.65)
  • Junior Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) finished second in the 200-IM (2:45.66) and third in the 50-Back (33.84) and 100-Fly (1:18.99)
  • Freshman Joy Mastrocola (Stoneham, Mass.) won the 50-Breast (37.89) and finished second in the 100-Breast (1:23.89)
  • Junior Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine) won the 50-Free (29.28) and placed second in the 50-Breast (38.52)
  • Senior Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) finished third in the 100-Back (1:16.10)
  • Freshman Abby Lenko (Augusta, Maine) was second in the 500-Free (7:36.05)
  • The relay quartet of English, Mastrocola, Roy, and Nostrom won the 200-Medley Relay (2:06.68)
  • Mastrocola, Nostrom, Lumbert, and Coiley placed first in the 200-Free Relay (1:55.93)
